Exercise is not only smart for your overall health, but it can make you smarter and better at what you do. This happens because exercise affects the brain in many ways. Exercise also sets off pleasure chemicals such as serotonin and dopamine that make us feel happy and less stressed. Exercise will help you to think more clearly because it increases your heart rate, which pumps more oxygen to your brain. 

Make a commitment to yourself to do your best to get at least 15 to 30 minutes of exercise daily. Research shows that exercise makes it easier for the brain to grow new neural connections between brain cells. If you want to improve your brain function remember any exercise which is good for the heart will also be good for the brain. You may consider engaging in activities like walking, running, jogging, cycling, dancing or swimming.

Find what is best for your body and interest so that exercise will remain fun and a period in your day that you look forward to for many more years to come.
