RESTORE YOUR EMOTIONAL EQUILIBRIUM
What we are thinking about has the potential to upset our emotional balance and result in distressing emotions and feelings. These feelings are often the first indication that our emotional balance is disturbed. You feel ashamed as you think about a recent error you made. You feel frustrated as you consider a tedious task that needs to be done. You feel afraid when you think about the presentation you have for the coming week. However, it can make your days miserable if you constantly react with embarrassment, fear, despair or other forms of distress to a particular thought. Instead, try to think in a more constructive and helpful way. It simply makes for a better day ahead. You can do this by starting each day with a calm reflection of the previous day and visualizing the outcomes you want for the day ahead. Not only will it reduce your stress for the day, but it will give you more energy and will restore your emotional equilibrium. It will also improve your sensation of well-being and built your focus. When you reflect about a mistake you’ve made, consider how you can bounce back better next time. See in your mind’s eye yourself performing a boring task with enthusiasm and joy and visualize a positive outcome where you are well prepared, giving a good presentation in a calm and confident way.
