MANAGE YOUR LEARNING EFFORTS
The skill of managing your learning or study effort is one of the most important learning strategies in the toolbox of effective learners. In order to control your learning effort you must plan and monitor your input against your progress. Therefore, when you observe that the learning goal is not being achieved or if you are not sure whether your learning effort will lead to the desired learning goal, you must regulate your learning effort. Some of the methods you can use to regulate your learning effort are asking someone for help or using a different learning strategy as not all learning tasks require the same method of learning. It is important to seek help as soon as you realize that you do not understand the work or do not know how to learn the study material. A good starting point is to ask your teacher to explain the work again or to demonstrate to you a suitable learning strategy for the relevant learning contents that will lead to effective information processing. You can also ask your fellow learners to help you if you are struggling. A good learner is aware that input alone does not ensure success, but input together with the appropriate learning strategy for the relevant learning task is a winning combination.
