Dear Principle and Teacher!
Literacy is abundance!
Literacy is not only the ability to read and write. The definition proposed by an expert during a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) meeting takes literacy one step further in our modern society. Literacy is the “ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts”.
What can be more valuable for a child than learning how to articulate themselves clearly and speak effectively!
The Helping Hand Amplified Team believes that literacy in education is the way to empower our nation. We also realise that literacy acquisition is a uniquely individual process, where innate literacy capacity varies from person to person. NO LIMITS TO LITERACY is our moto for 2019, where Learners with Special Educational Needs are specially catered for in a township in Gauteng, South Africa.
These learners read slower, struggles with letter and work recognition and has physical challenges; however, their spirits are soaring above their limitations. These scholars are touching our hearts deeply with their enthusiasm and smiles, and this is the fuel that kindles the fire to serve them with a literacy programme catering specifically for their needs.
Our NPO serves foundation phase scholars both macroscopically, by creating innovative and fun literacy programmes and sharing it on our social media platforms, and microscopically by going to schools and implementing these literacy programmes.
Share your thoughts and ideas on literacy by leaving a comment or visiting www.helpinghandamplified.co.za and leave a message.
Our wish is an abundance of education for all.
Much love.
